Moving house is not for sissies! This stressful time can put plenty of strain on any family and the last thing you need thrown in the mix is unnecessary injury or accidents, plus the additional costs of these unpredictable accidents. Keeping your wits about you and handling your home move with care and fore-thought is the only way to go about it, as well as hiring the professional help of a home removals company to assist with the heavy lifting and transportation, such as SA Removals.
In order to avoid unnecessary strain, injury or accidents, we recommend these packaging tips to ease you through the moving process:
We recommends packing heavier items, such as books, in smaller boxes and lighter items, such as linens, in bigger boxes. Large, over-packed boxes not only make the job more difficult for household movers, but they also have a bigger chance of breaking!
Any household movers company will tell you this simple tip: pack heavier items on the bottom of your boxes and lighter items on top. This may seem like a no-brainer, but all too often boxes are packed with little thought and valuables end up broken upon delivery!
As a home removals company with many years of experience, we recommend wrapping your dishes and other breakables with packing paper or bubble wrap, bundling at least four – five dishes together, then wrapping them again. We also recommend packing your dishes on their side and not flat while adding bunched up packing paper or bubble wrap in-between each bundle.
As one of South Africa’s top household moving companies, we have seen boxes break due to poor taping. This cannot be stressed enough – tape your boxes well! We recommend using a couple of pieces of tape to secure the bottom and top seams, then wrapping the tape around the box’s top and bottom edges, where stress is usually concentrated!
